Wyoming winter sage grouse habitat - sagebrush steppe

WHEN EXPERIENCE COUNTS

For more than 20 years WWC’s client base has spanned the gamut of project proponents from small mine permitting for individual gravel pits to energy developments for some of the largest corporations in the world.

WWC has assisted a number of clients in the energy industry with initial phases of development.  We conduct baseline surveys over large potential areas and provide final site selection and infrastructure options that reduce on-site impacts to wildlife and their habitats, as well as being conducive to reclamation in the future.

WWC has provided wildlife and rangeland surveys, biological assessments and evaluations for many types of energy fields, transmission corridors and exploration efforts.  WWC uses knowledge gained through these projects to drive our siting and mitigation planning efforts in an empirically-based fashion.

sage grouse research - sage-grouse research - winter research

WWC is best known for our work with Greater Sage-grouse. Survey and research projects span the complete yearly cycle, from the typical nesting season work through the winter months which present unique field challenges. We have captured and instrumented with radio telemetry over 3,000 individual grouse on projects in multiple states, following the birds through specific time frames to answer a variety of management question.

raptor nesting research - raptor surveys

One of our fields of special interest is with raptors and their populations.  WWC has conducted hundreds of raptor surveys, with many including banding, telemetry and blood work.  While centered on the northern Rockies, we have worked from the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to the coastlines of Florida and Texas, and many places in between.  We have targeted experience trapping and handling golden eagles, northern goshawks, peregrine falcons and other species.

WWC has performed vegetation surveys and monitoring for habitat manipulation, as baseline information for mitigation and documentation of improvement efforts.

waterfowl production - waterfowl mitigation - Trumpeter Swan habitat

WWC has experience in habitat enhancement for a variety of needs and target species. Inclusion of the needs of multiple species in close spatial relation to each other to provide homes for waterfowl from teal to swans, with areas of sagebrush for sage-grouse. We have designed and implemented wetland mitigation projects to replace the functions of wetlands lost to human developments of roads, house sites, hospitals and other projects.
